Recipe: Jamaican Easter Bun

Easter is never the same without some bun and cheese.  With our busy lives, no one wants to prepare buns using yeast mixture.  Well, no need to worry as I have a solution for you.  Here is a bun recipe that you can make without yeast.  It is quick and easy. 
You will be amazed at the taste and texture; try it.  Let me know how well your turn out!  Happy Easter!
Ingredients
1 pint stout
1 cup  sugar
2 ozs margarine
2 tbsp honey
1 cup fruits (raisins, cherries, mixed peel)
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 egg - beaten
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Browning 

Direction
Place stout, margarine and honey in a saucepan and heat on medium low heat until margarine is completely melted.

Remove saucepan from heat and put aside for a few minutes.

Grease and flour 9 inch x 5 inch loaf pan.

Sift the flour and baking powder together.

Add spices (nutmeg, cinnamon) and fruits to flour mixture.

Stir in stout mixture  and egg into flour mixture. Mixed well, adding browning to the desired color.

Pour mixture into the greased pan.

Bake at 375 ⁰F for about 15 minutes then reduce heat to  325 ⁰F until done.

Mix  together 2 tbsp brown sugar and 1/2 cup of water.  Lightly brush some of this mixture over the warm bun.  This will form a glaze.

DIY: Restyled Caged Ring

I bought this caged ring years ago at a local boutique. Over the years it tarnished and fell apart but the stone was pretty i could not just throw it away. So i decided to turn the old necklace into a caged ring.

1. First use E-6000 and glued the stone to a ring post that i purchased a set at Jo Ann Fabric. 
2. Next Let the stone and the glued ring post dry.
3. Take Gold shaping wire and wrapped it around the ring to creating a spiraled look.
4. Make sure the ends of the gold wire were curled with wire tools to prevent from snagging.
5. Finally put a little more E-6000 glue over the gold wire and then let it sit to dry.

Try restyling your old necklace or statement accessories into something new!

DIY: Makeup Brush Holder with Face Charts

I discovered mamma_divan on Instagram and I fell in love with a photo of her vanity. She had her brushes in the cutest holder pen and pencil holder. She let me know that she purchased her brush holders from TJ Maxx. I immediately stopped by my local TJ Maxx and luckily I found the exact same holders (there was two but one was scratched up). So I picked up just one I was so excited Thanks Mamma_Diva !! :)

White Pen and Pencil Holder from TJ Maxx was $5.99.

I went to my local Home Goods and found a desk organizer in a black spinning pencil holder for $6.99. I like this holder because it spins and each side had a panel I could add a face chart or graphic.

I traced the dimension of the panel of the holder.

Next I used some face charts from work (Sephora).

I also found face charts on MAC Cosmetics website and Sephora.com.

Print a Blank Face Chart for free here

Finally I cut the shape out of the Face Chart and taped it to the holder. I used double sided tape because I plan to change them often and using glue makes it more permanent.

I really love these brush holders. I was tired of my brushes in a glass jar with beads. I think it is time for a vanity table. My makeup has taken over. My poor bathroom counter :(

Motivational Monday: Live A Positive Life

You can't live a positive life with a negative mind.

It is hard to travel on a positive journey when your mind and heart is filled with negativity. In order to grow you have to rise above the negative energy (people) and stay focused. I was talking to my boss and he told me how he lost a $500 Visa Gift card that he won at work during a contest. He figured it fell out of his pocket when he was on his lunch break. He immediately called the company to report it lost/stolen and the balance was depleted to $0 in no time! When he told me that I was upset for him. In my head I was thinking thats messed up that *%^insert negative and bad words*&%^. He told me how his wife told him to look at it in another perspective the person that found the gift card probably needed to pay their rent or get caught up on bills you never know. He told me he later got a call from HR and they sent him another gift card since his last one was stolen. I felt if he let the fact the gift card was stolen burden him it would of built up so much anger instead he was positive and with karma his situation turned out good. Fill your mind with positive energy and live a positive life. :)
